Inspiring stories

SAL has touched and transformed the lives of many, not only our scholars, but also the mentors who walk alongside them.

Our scholars

Beyond academic knowledge, SAL gave me opportunities to grow in ways I had never imagined. Through meaningful community activities, I learned new skills and broadened my perspective. Most impactful of all was the Mentoring Program, which truly sets SAL apart from other scholarships. Over three years, I changed profoundly. That period was neither too short nor too long. It was just enough for me to recognize my strengths and face my weaknesses. I grew from someone who was stubborn, hot tempered, and often negative into a calmer person who understands how to manage emotions and think more positively about life. My journey with SAL concluded with double the joy when I became the first scholar to graduate and later began a new chapter as a staff member in the Marketing Department at N.H.O. Looking back, I know that SAL was not just a scholarship. It was a turning point that gave me confidence, resilience, and the belief that my dreams are worth fighting for.

SAL has given me so much more than just support for school. It’s given me knowledge, confidence, and above all - genuine, lasting connections. It’s been a place where I could truly be myself, a place that helped me become a better version of who I was, every single day. And I know now - every person I met in this journey - the Mentors, Mentees, and the SAL team - none of them came into my life by accident. They were the raindrops that fell in just the right place. Each one helped water a little seed like me - helping me grow, gently and surely, through these precious years of youth.

I’ve had the opportunity to take on the role of a mentor for the first time for the SAL Scholarship Program. Honestly, when I began this journey, I wasn’t confident that I could do it. There were moments when I questioned myself, how could I guide someone else when I sometimes struggle to solve my own problems in life? In the end, I’ve learned that being a mentor isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about walking alongside someone, learning together, and growing together. I’m truly grateful for this experience, it has taught me not only more about others, but also more about myself.
